White Dawn

One quite morning in winter a young man wandered out into the snow to catch the light of the suns first rays... There he sat about etching the name of his lover into the tree. He carefully pulled at the bark leaving a J marked scare in the trees flesh, then quietly walked back inside before the rest of the household woke up.

I did this drawing for my first quarter in College. I took a Art111 course and the teacher, Mary Lantz, was just amazing. This picture was from her Landscape assignment and I worked very hard on it. It took me 13 hours to do all the detail work and rework it several times... all that before I found out I could have just done it postcard sized. (this is a 18x24 sized drawing done with drawing pencils..
